The members of Cor Meibion Gwalia are drawn mainly from the Welsh community in and around London. Formed in 1967, the Gwalia has an extensive repertoire which includes the traditional Welsh hymns and folk songs along with more modern numbers featured in "Celebration" (our new CD) from musicals such as "South Pacific" & "Sweet Charity".
The choir has won prizes at the Royal National Eisteddfod of Wales and the Llangollen Internationl Eisteddfod. Concerts have been given with many of the leading symphony orchestras, brass and military bands. There have been numerous television, radio and caberet performances and the choir featured in a number of TV commercials.
The Gwalia provided background music for the Hugh Grant film "The Englishman who went up a Hill and came down a Mountain" and is also featured on the Chris De Burgh album "Beautiful Dreams". They have also recorded with Shirley Bassey and the late Harry Secombe.
